Great idea/concept, better than running shoes/sneakers for painless walking, but I walk 4 miles/day and the shoes wear out in 60 days and require an $85 resole. Not very durable. Poor lateral support.

I have plantar fasciitis (foot pain), from walking on cement all day, so I tried these shoes. I would say that I love these shoes; great style and workmanship, however I do not think I could wear them on an 8 hour shift. They do not make my feet any worse (which is a good thing ). I am able to walk without pain. But they are heavy, and they do change the way you walk. I do not recommend walking on cobblestone streets or a lot of stairs like I did in these.

My first pair of MBTs. Have since bought a pair of sandals and wear them as I write this. The Chapa GTX pair that I have feels wider that I expected, and slightly bigger than I expected. That said, they are exceptionally comfortable when you are moving. Standing around in these shoes takes some getting used to -- you never quite stand still for all of the motion at the back of the shoe, but that's the point. Over time I can see how I will realize extended benefits of the physiological design in my legs and back. Expensive shoes, and somewhat "unstylish" to put it nicely -- but I'm in them for the comfort.

MBT Chapa -This is my third pair of MBT footwear. The unique structure relieves pressure on my heels. No orthotic is required. Shoe size and "feel" is identical between all 3 pairs, including the boots. ONCE USED TO MBT SHOES I WEAR NOTHING ELSE EXCEPT WHEN DRESS SHOES ARE APPROPRIATE.

I really was more disappointed with this boot than other reviewers. Felt the shaft was wide, material poor. The idea of design was good, but not with the plum boot.

New Chapas-Took a bit of getting used to them, but given the unique design this is not surprising. Really comfortable. If you have weak ankles or overpronate, go slow on the break-in. I got the Rock color so it won't show dirt so easily.

MBT, Masai Barefoot Technology, is the brainchild of Swiss engineer Karl Müller. While visiting Korea Müller discovered that walking on paddy fields barefoot eliminated his back pain. Upon returning to Switzerland, Müller started to develop a shoe that would duplicate the feeling of walking over those paddy fields, sand or any other soft natural terrain. It took several years but in 1996 MBT shoes were ready to be released to the world. Since then, MBT shoes are now sold in over twenty countries and sell approximately 1,000,000 pairs a year.
